It took me two rounds of hold placements at the public library, but I finally completed this phenomenal book. This book is an easy read, yet, I often found myself gazing deeply into though and losing focus on the text, as I tried to apply Chris Anderson's coaching to my own musings and creative ventures.
Written for the entrepreneur, inventor, creator and tinkerer in all of us, Anderson succeeds in tickling our imaginations of what we, individually and as a society, can do to reshape the way products are funded, designed, developed, manufactured, and sold. Through on-line tools, open-sourced collaboration and cloud-based manufacturing, the future of product development is bright.
Open-source, personal, small scale product production
Software, which costs nothing to distribute is free.
Hardware, which is expensive to make, is priced at the minimum necessary to ensure the healthy growth of a sustainable business, to ensure quality, support, and availability of the products, but the designs are given away free, too.
All the intelectual property is open so thecommunity can use it, improve it, make their own variants, etc.
Minimize transaction costs with tech, not proximity.
