T12 lamps – color perception is grey-green or grey-yellow filter. They also flicker and buzz because of the magnetic ballast frequency. Some people are sensitive to this frequency and can get headaches and eye fatigue.
T8 lamps produce better color rendering and no flicker because it operates at a much higher speed using electonics. This strategy produces the same amount of light as T12s but uses 30% less energy.
lighting power density, occupancy controls, daylighting
fenestration - facade, glazing, overhangs
envelope - insulation, air exchanges, material construction,
generation - PV generation
Reduce lighting power density by 47%, and install occupancy sensors in the active storage, mechanical room, restroom, and office zones.
Add a vestibule to the front entrance to reduce infiltration.
Install daylighting sensors tuned to a 46.5 fc (500 lux) set point.
Reduce south façade window-to-wall ratio by 50%.
Replace baseline exterior walls with better insulated constructions.
Reduce plug loads to 10% of peak during off hours in high plug load stores.
Shaded overhangs above the windows on the south façade.
